Nintendo announces the Wii U console at E3

Nintendo’s next Wii console has been enveiled and is on track to arrive in 2012, delivering “deep game experiences” that have something for everyone. Nintendo announced the Wii U, with already several varieties of controllers, even one with a 6.2-inch touchscreen to make it even more of a spectacular experience. Interesting and important to the Wii U, you don’t need a TV to play since the Wii U controller will be able to handle your gaming experience – you also have a front-facing camera with video chat capabilities within the controller for even cooler video chats. Moreover, the Wii U will be compatible with up-to-date software and accessories from Nintendo as well, including your favorite games and more playing on the Wii U’s powerful HD graphic abilities – yes, the Wii is finally going HD! The newest and upcoming games will even look better on the Wii U.

HD on the Wii U will output in 1080p (from the fact sheet) via an HDMI connection. In addition, S-video, component, and composite connections are also compatible with the system. You can also expect extendable memory with either SD cards or external USB storage. With that said, 4 USB (2.0) ports are equipped on the Wii U, and the media will be available to play/insert with “proprietary high-density optical discs.” Your old Wii games will be compatible with the Wii U with no problem.
